Two-Thirds Scale Masterpiece Megatron Action Figure Revealed

By Primus on Sunday, October 18, 2009

As if the the debate over the Mini-MP Convoy needed any fuel. According to some news coming from AcToys.net. It looks like a new fan Megatron is about to throw a few logs on the KO Transformers fire.

The unofficial figure shown is an exact replica of the Tomy Takara MP-5 Masterpice Megatron but scaled down to roughly 2/3 the size of the original. The smaller scale does fit your hand nicer in the alternate gun mode. Something that may or may not aggravate an already sensitive issue about shipping a gun. The maker is not revealed. Juding from the quality of work, it will come from a maker we know already.

It is somewhat curious as to why these figures are being produced. The MP-5 mold has been re-released at least once and is readily available online with or without the orange cap modification. Perhaps, these will be offered at reasonable price but it is unlikely judging by the pricing on other fan made projects.

We work really hard to be the best resource for all your Transformers news and reviews every day. Keep your browser dialed to Tformers.com for updates as they happen.

HERE HERE!!! To me they dilute the series and the more they become accepted as part of the series - the more I lose interest in the entire series. Like someone said - it's almost like they 'allow' copyright infringment. It really does degredate the image of the originals ... read more

If it's smaller, then it should cost less. Otherwise there's just no point in even owning one! Why bother when you can get a bigger one for less money?

China IS in a recession so says my dad that goes there (i wish i could go with him) Anyways this will be cool if they give him a Gen1 cartoon head as WELL as gives him the orignal scaled down. Also the gun placement is MUCH better. I like this (especially since i dont own a MP Megs) and like the id... read more

I agree as well. Original pieces are fine, but the people making this and Optimus Prime are pushing their luck.

LOL! Good point! Though I suppose that Hasbro and Takara may not be able to if the production run is done out of China. There's a guy producing stainless steel sonic screwdriver replicas unlicensed out of China that are actually high quality but the BBC can't do anything about it be... read more

Yes about the cannon. Don't get me wrong I love a big gun, but if the figure can't support it, I don't see the point. As I mentioned earlier, this size seems to fit this figure much better

This has made my day! I was considering getting the Prime, but not having an equal Megs was putting me off. Now I definitely will get both. And yes, the reason is 100% because these will be in scale with MP seekers/Grimlock. People might moan about these being knock offs, but the point is tha... read more

Truer words have never been spoken. I don't care how nice it looks, i don't see the justification of buying something that is essentially an unlicensed copy of something else for the same/slightly less money than the original. Its like going to Canal Street and buying booteg DVDs, not for 5... read more
