2008 Transformers Collection Survey Results

How many Transformers we owned in 2008 - As we can see the category with the greatest change is the "1000 or more" category which saw the biggest increase between 2007 to 2008 with a 12% hike. This category has now overtaken the "200" category as the second largest majority next to "100 or less." The "100 or less" category remains the largest although now with only a 6% difference between "1000 or more."

I was a fan of the original series, but I never knew he Cullen was the voice for KARR. KB Toys to Close Stores in Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Bad economic times continue to impact the toy world today as KB Toys retailer has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and will begin closing its retail stores. KB intends to close its retail stores — consisting of 277 shopping mall locations, 114 outlets, 40 KB Toy Works stores, and 30 holiday stores — and sell its wholesale distribution business.

Even Optimus Prime couldn't save them! Sony's DVD group that created the fantastic reissues for "A Sesame Street Christmas Carol" and a 20th anniversary edition of "Transformers: The Movie" last fall is closing its doors. In a story carried by Yahoo News, "Sources say parent company Sony BMG Music Entertainment is shuttering the label to focus on its core music business." Looks like we wont be seeing re-issues of the G1 series as was reported. Check out the full news story.

Sony BMG Music Entertainment has issued a press release announcing that they will be providing additional exclusive content for The Transformers: The Movie 20th Anniversary Special Edition DVD. "As a thank you to fans, SONY BMG is adding even more content to the special features available via the exclusive DVD-ROM link on Disc 2 of the TRANSFORMERS: The Movie 20th Anniversary Special Edition DVD. Currently this link provides access to exclusive cell phone wallpapers – available for a limited time only – as well as exclusive video clips and behind-the-scenes photos. SONY BMG will continue to update this exclusive content throughout the remainder of 2006," announces the press release. Full press release.

Just in from IDW Publishing is a 5-page preview with covers for the Transformers Maximum Dinobots #2 comic that will be released on January 28, 2009. The series we've all be waiting for has Grimlock and the dino boys in their own comic series with a second issue showing us this is no 101. Shane McCarthy, writer of the All Hail Megatron maxi-series and March's Spotlight: Drift, has posted an entry on his blog talking about his upcoming book based on the character he created. There is a new auction presently running on eBay for a ultra-rare prototype of the Generation 1 Computron combiner team. This is a first shot sample of the character before it went into full production and was used as a sticker study for the toy.
