Thanks to AllSpark's "Monocle", we have information that the most recent issue of Brand Week magazine is showcasing a rather interesting character that we didn't expect to see: Bumblebee! Peeking from behind The Hub logo, is Bumblebee from the upcoming Transformers: Prime cartoon! The design is very much based on the live-action Transformers films but with some variations. Read more.
Back in 1986, Toy Fair was a different beast than it is now. There was less press and was mainly a place for companies to showcase their upcoming year's product to retailers ranging from big box to your local comic book shop owners. TFWiki and AllSpark worked together last week, with help from fan donations, to purchase a catalog of Toy Fair from that year, and have showcased what is in that catalog on TFWiki, which showcases Ultra Magnus and the Gestalts Menasor, Protecticons, and Combaticons. Here's a little surprise from Toy Fair that just about everyone missed. BigBadToyStore has listed details on the Transformers Milestone: Optimus Prime Statue that will be released July 2010 for a list price of $149, BBTS has it now for $119. Stan Bush dropped buy to let us know his rock anthem "The Touch" from the original Transformers Movie, will be featured Sunday March 28th on American Dad showing on Fox. "The Touch" has also recently been released for Guitar Hero WT, featured on NBC's Geek Spy sitcom Chuck, in the movie Boogie Nights, and in two of Hasbro's Transformers toys. Glu Mobile has released their first preview trailer of their upcoming Transformers: G1 Awakening video game for the Apple iPhone/Touch platform. The video shows off some gameplay and the characters playable in the game. Looking for that Masterpiece Grimlock to hit the states so you don't have to import him? Well, you're in luck! Hasbro announced today that Toys R Us would be exclusively bringing the figure over to the states! The figure will receive a sword and a crown. Hasbro described the packaging of the figure as "absolutely phenomenal." Just think about the way he looks in his T-Rex mode after the jump, and you'll get an idea, Hasbro tells us. No release date on this guy yet, but keep your eyes glued to us as we will let you know when we hear something!
Hasbro announced today that one of their San Diego Comic-Con 2010 exclusives will be a re-issue of Blaster! Just like last year where they re-issued Soundwave, we have learned that Blaster will be packaged with Steeljaw, Ramhorn, and Eject! Another Transformers Mighty Mugg will also be available! Unfortunately when we asked Hasbro about the Might Mugg, they coyly said that they have to hold something up their sleeve for later in the year.
Just in! Oh yea you heard right, Hasbro will be releasing Weeble Wobble toys that will be coming later in the Spring. These little cute guys will be designed for the Generation 1 fans and a three pack including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Megatron will be available for about eight dollars a set. Hasbro, Inc. reported their fourth quarter earnings report this morning and the fourth quarter results beat the snot out of analyst projections, mainly due to an increase in the boys segment of products (read: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and GI Joe), which grew 16% last quarter. Hasbro reported fourth quarter net revenue of 1.38 billion an increase of $144.1 million or 12% (!) compared to $1.23 billion a year ago in 2008. Read more.
Transformers: Prime will be computer graphics animated and Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will be involved in the project, reports the Hollywood Reporter. According to the entertainment website, the screenwriters responsible for the Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be executive producers on the Transformers: Prime, the show debuting on Hasbro Inc. and Discovery Networks' The Hub in fall 2010. Factory, in collaboration with Hasbro, Inc., unleashes THE TRANSFORMERS: Season Two Volume One 25th Anniversary Edition DVD box set on September 15th. A must-have for any Transformers fan, this 4-DVD set contains the first 28 episodes from the second season of The Transformers in the order they were intended, including many fan-favorites.
If you have been holding off on ordering Shout! Factory's Generation 1 Matrix of Leadership DVD box set until you could actually hold it first, your wait might be over. According to TV Shows On DVD, the set will be released into the mainstream and onto store shelves on October 13th in Canada and in the U.S. a week later on October 20th. That's right, the same day as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. How convenient. Unfortunately, the suggested retail price is $169.95, which is considerably higher than the $140.00 price tag being offered directly from Shout! Factory.
We checked in with IDW about the Amazon pre-order for a Drift paperback due this November. Details are few, but we can confirm that there is an upcoming Drift mini-series, according to Amazon Penned by Shane McCarthy and Alex Milne. Think what you may of Drift, that's a winning team. We also inquired about the pre-order for Transformers Animated: The Adventure Continues. This series is a re-launch of IDW's Transformer Animated series, featuring stories from Season 3!

Thanks to "Oracle1984" of the IDW Publishing forums, we have some release dates of Transformers title trade paperbacks from IDW Publishing in the last quarter of the year for 2010 and the first quarter of 2011. Some highlights include Transformers Animated: The Adventure Continues! (September 21, 2010), featuring stories from the third season of the television series, Transformers: Drift (November 10, 2010), and collections of various comics of Grimlock and Starscream with Best of Grimlock (December 8, 2010) and Best of Starscream (January 5, 2011), respectively. With IDW Publishing-created character getting his own figure this Fall, it only makes sense that this was coming. According to Amazon.com, a 102-page book titled Transformers: Drift will be released on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 by IDW Publishing by Shane McCarthy and Lee Ferguson. Mr. McCarthy created the Drift character in his All Hail Megatron maxi-series last year. Read more.
Thanks to GenZhao, we finally have some out of the box shots of the Commemorative Edition Generation 1 Perceptor. The figure will be out exclusively at Toys R Us stores sometime quite soon. According to GenZhao's posting over at KO Toys, the figure's gun no longer has the spring.
Shout Factory is commemorating the 25th anniversary of Transformers with a complete 16 DVD set depicting all 3+ seasons of Generation One. The sets are now shipping to those who pre-ordered them on their website. We recently received our own box set, and now have in depth images of what the boxed set contains, including a screen shot of the title menu. Look for an in-depth review later this weekend, but for now enjoy the images!
SGCollect has posted the first pictures of the Cybertronian Drift model kit that they are producing as a limited edition convention exclusive. Only 300 pieces will be made of this DFT-01 Kit and as you can see from the images, is in scale with a Classics Rodimus figure. Available sometime in July 2009, the set will cost 110 SGD (~$75 USD), and yes, overseas orders will be accepted. Instructions on pre-ordering are now available.
Thanks to ACToys.net we have a batch of new prototype images of the Just-i-Toys WST Transformers G1 Blaster action figure that we reported on previously. What's most impressive is they've done a really nice job with the sculpt on alternate mode. Even without proper colors and paint applications, we can see it is going to look great.
Fan-made accessory company BTS.TOY has updated their site with new prototype images of their Classic Optimus Prime trailer kit. The new images show what the trailer will actually look like. Theses images show something quite different from what we've seen before, here's to hoping there is a nice surprise or two inside the trailer.
